Audition Information![]() Audition Call!! Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the BlueStreet Jazz Voices.. We are looking for all voices at this time... Auditions will be held in the fall of 2009 beginning on September 9th. Open spots are Here is the basic information on how auditions go. To be considered for BlueStreet, you must be able to read music and be able to plunk your part on a piano, and have some familiarity with choral music charts. You do not have to be an excellent sight singer but you must be able to read music. Although it certainly helps, you do not have to have jazz experience to be considered for BlueStreet. Many of our singers come from the classical music community. We would like people to prepare a medium tempo jazz standard. Please bring music for Andy to use in the audition. If the chart is not in your key, no worries, Andy can transpose pretty much anything on the fly and will rehearse your piece with you prior to singing it for us. The audition consists of the following: 1. Practicing your piece of music privately with Andy so you both are comfortable with the tune. 2. Singing it for Ken and a couple people from the group. 3. Vocalizing with Ken and a reality check on your music reading. That generally consists of Ken giving you a simple line of music and you picking out the notes (single finger) on the piano. Pretty basic. 4. A brief interview on your interest level, availability and to get to know you a bit. The audition is designed to be friendly, fun and not intimidating. Please give me a call at 206-290-5389 if you have additional questions. Please let me know if you would like to audition. Paul Frankel
