Audition Information![]() Audition Call!! BlueStreet has openings for singers for our 07/08 season. We looking for all voices at this time...We are also seeking soloists. Auditions will be on an appointment basis before our standard rehearsals on Tuesday night. We will only be auditioning folks in the next couple weeks so do not delay in getting in touch with us. Please email us at bluestreetjazz@hotmail.com. Thank you for your interest in BlueStreet Voices. In three short years, Bluestreet has acheived a very high level of musicianship as an ensemble. We take a technical, musical, artistic and above all, very professional approach to our presentation of vocal jazz. We take these attributes quite seriously while having a tremendous amount of fun. We generally perform 5-7 times per year. We anchor our season around two self-produced concerts where we rent out a theater and do all the marketing / advertising on our own. This year we will do those in November and May. We will perform at the Triple Door at least once in our next season. We sold-out the Triple Door in our appearance last year!! We will also do 2-3 concerts at senior centers as part of our community service goal and finally we will submit to 2-3 jazz festivals and community concert series. The group understands that most members have family and respect the lifestyle balance that is needed among musicians. We do ask for a donation of 85.00 per quarter (September, January, April) to be a member of BlueStreet. This helps seed our activities and support our rehearsal space, music, musical director and other expenses the group has. Here is the basic information on how audtions go. To be considered for BlueStreet, you must be able to read music, have familiarity with choral music charts, and have sung in a vocal ensemble. Although it certainly helps, you do not have to have jazz experience to be considered for BlueStreet. Many of our singers come from the classical music community. We rehearse at Eckstein Middle School, 3003 NE 75th St, Seattle 98115 (Wedgewood neighborhood), beginning at 7:30-9:30 Tuesday nights. We start at 7:00 as we get close to performances. For the audition, we would like you to prepare a medium tempo jazz standard or showtune with sheet music. Andy, our accompanist, can transpose pretty much anything on the fly and will rehearse your piece with you prior to singing it for us. The audition consists of the following:
Finally we perform a brief interview on your interest level, availability and to get to know you a bit. The audition is designed to be friendly and fun. Once we get confirmation of your intent to audition and we get closer to the date, we will send you more details regarding time/place and location map. Please contact us at bluestreetjazz@hotmail.com or give us a call at 206-361-5726.
